FUNCTIONS OF THE CLS OFFICERS
1. POST UNDER THE MINISTRY OF LABOUR
:
A)
Central Industrial Relations Machinery (CIRM) under the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central)
Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central)
, Regional Labour Commissioner (Central), Deputy
Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Joint Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) and Chief Labour
Commissioner (Central).
Prevention
and settlement of industrial disputes and enforcement of labour
laws in industries and establishment in respect of which the Central Government
is the appropriate Government; Verification of membership of
: (a) trade unions under the code of Discipline. (b) trade unions in
major ports and (c) registered trade unions; Enforcement of Awards and
Settlements; Conduct of enquiry into the breaches of code of Discipline;
Formation of Works Committees and Workers participation in management;
Collection of statistical information in the Central sphere pertaining to
industrial disputes, statistical information in the Central sphere pertaining
to industrial disputes, work stoppages, wages, labour
situation and labour regulations.
B. Labour Welfare Organisation under
the Director General (Labour Welfare)
Assistant
Welfare Commissioner and Welfare Commissioner
Administering
the five Labour Welfare Funds for Beedi,
Cine and certain categories of non-coal mine workers.
2. POST UNDER ESTABLISHMENTS/ORGANISATIONS OF
OTHER MINISTRIES:
Assistant Labour Welfare Commissioner
(Central), Deputy Labour Welfare Commissioner
(Central), Labour Welfare Commissioner (Central) and
Chief Adviser (Labour Welfare).
To advise the management of the Departmental Undertakings
regarding implementations of the labour laws, provision
of welfare facilities to the staff employed in these undertakings, redressal of the grievances of the staff and maintaining
harmonious relations between the management and the labour
